All our Johnston’s trucks run on biodiesel, which is supplied from 4Refuel Canada.

4Refuel is the LEADER in fuel management services in Canada and supply over 1 million litres per month of blended biodiesel to municipal and corporate fleets throughout British Columbia.

In 2004, the BC Municipal Fleet Managers Group (MFMG), representing 40 municipalities in Vancouver’s Lower Mainland and Southern BC, undertook a biodiesel pilot project as a strategy to create awareness of the benefits of biodiesel.

The results of the Greater Vancouver Biodiesel Study concluded the B20 biodiesel (20% biodiesel) effectively reduces greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency’s guidelines without causing operational problems.

As a renewable resource, the bio component of biodiesel helps to extend the supply of non-renewable diesel fuel. 4ReFuel eliminates toxic emissions every day and helps Johnston’s to reduce our carbon footprint with continued monitoring in tracking our fuel management results and quantifying our emission reductions.

4ReFuel’s supporting wheel-to-wheel fuel delivery service brings the supply of fuel in one vehicle to a fleet of many, which eliminates a surprisingly high amount of pollution and fuel waste that our trucks would have produced if all the trucks had to travel out to one single fuel source.
