Ham & Fig Melts on Baguette

Ingredients

  • 1 Baguette, cut in 2 sections (9-inches each side)
  • Sufficient Quantity Strong Mustard
  • 16 Slices Ham
  • 4 Tbsp (60 mL) Fig Jam
  • Sufficient Quantity Arugula Leaves
  • 16 slices Sliced Gouda Cheese

Cooking Directions

  1. Place over rack 6-inches from the broiler and preheat broiler.
  2. With a serrated knife, cut the baguette sections in half lengthwise to obtain 4 long pieces of bread.
  3. Place the bread, cut side up, on a baking sheet and toast under the broiler.
  4. Spread the toasted bread with mustard and place 4 slices of ham on each piece.
  5. Top with the fig jam and a few arugula leaves.
  6. Cut the cheese slices in half and arrange them so that they cover the ham and arugual completely.
  7. Broil until the cheese is melted and browning.
  8. Cut in half before serving.
